David Harold

David Harold is the Co-Chair of AF&C, the organization behind the Festival Off d’Avignon—one of Europe’s largest independent performing arts festivals. He has over 25 years of experience in literature, theatre production, and cultural management in France.

He began his career at the Maison des écrivains et de la littérature, where he managed educational programs for writers from 1997 to 2007. In 2008, he became director of Théâtre de Die in Drôme, a venue recognized in 2014 as a stage conventioned Art en Territoire.

From 2018 to 2022, he led the Prix du Jeune Écrivain, supporting young literary voices. Alongside this, David has been active as an independent producer and theatre manager in Avignon, co-directing venues like Rouge Gorge, Archipel, and Atypik.

Since 2022, he has co-led AF&C, playing a vital role in supporting artistic freedom, innovation, and year-round performance spaces within the dynamic ecosystem of Avignon’s Off festival.
