Rafaela Carrasco Company

Rafaela Carrasco is an expert in Spanish dance and Flamenco and is a renowned bailaora and choreographer. She left Seville for Madrid in 1996 and since then has worked with distinguished companies and leading figures like Belén Maya, Israel Galván and Rafael Amargo. Thanks to one of her teachers, Mario Maya, she was provided with her first professional opportunity and discovered performing, first in the Mario Maya Company and then in the Andalusian Dance Company.

In 2002, she founded her own company where the focus is taking risks and creating her own vision of dance. She updates the art of flamenco by absorbing from other dance disciplines.

Among her awards and acknowledgements, these stand out: 

Giraldillo ‘Special Jury Award’ for her work as the Artistic Director of the Closing Gala The end and the root. A stroll around dance in Seville.

Giraldillo for the best show in images. 20 years of the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet. ‘Critic’s Choice Award’ Jerez Flamenco Festival 2018, for her show ‘Born a shadow’.

The masterclasses are designed as an opportunity for the participants to see and engage into the creative act of great choreographers who participate in the program of Sibiu International Theatre Festival. The masterclass has two dimensions: a brief presentation of the movement concepts used to create a performance and the practical one of experiencing the work methods.
