Participation in The Market

Opportunities

Sibiu Performing Arts Market Events

Conferences, workshops, meetings – designed with the aim to discuss most relevant topics in the performing arts, as well as facilitate networking for participants.

The Market events take place in a triple format: in-person, hybrid and online. This enables participants in Sibiu as well as those who attend exclusively online to come together and enjoy the experience of Sibiu Performing Arts Market.

Registered participants who participate exclusively online will access the events via the platform Zoom Events, where they can participate in discussions, give feedback, as well as be in touch with the other participants, the panellists, or the organizers. Participants in Sibiu will also have access to Zoom Events and can take part in the conversations there as well.

The Market’s conferences are also broadcasted live on the official channels of FITS, for the Festival’s general audience. Participants in the Market accept that they might appear in the recordings.

The Market’s socializing events (eg. Speed Networking), as well as Meetings and Classes with Great Choreographers are closed-circuit events, and access is restricted to registered participants.

Meetings and Classes with Great Choreographers

Every year, great choreographers who participate in the program of Sibiu International Theatre Festival, hold masterclasses, designed as an opportunity for the participants to see the creative act from backstage. With this purpose of revealing the art, the masterclass is structured in two parts: a theoretical one – introduction and brief presentation of the movement concepts and principles used to create a performance, and a practical one – experiencing work methods.

The meetings take place under the guidance of Adriana Bârză, PhD Lecturer at the Department of Drama and Theatre Studies of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.

Cultural Conversations

This event consist of a series of interviews with artists and other people involved in the performing arts, participating in The Festival. This event has taken place over the last 10 years, and the conversations of an year are printed the next, in the book titled Cultural Conversations as well. This creates a beautiful record of the work and thoughts of selected people - some known, some unknown, some are artists, some are managers – which gives the event a pleasant array of topics and perspectives.
The interviews, which are open to the public, take place every day at the Atrium Cafe, just next to the famous Liars Bridge. The format of these meetings allows for freedom of artistic speech, a friendly environment, and a diversity of interviewees.
